This ‘Walter Cave’ upright piano is an overstrung 85-note Model IV with a full cast iron frame and internal underdamping. The casework features light shade holders, with working light bulbs, and ornate brass hinges.
The basic nameplate, also of brass, is embossed “C • BECHSTEIN BERLIN •”. The action is light/medium and the instrument has that rich, warm Bechstein tone. -

Broadwood upright piano – Serial No.: 122209 in a rosewood wax finish.
This upright piano comes with an accompanying letter from the Broadwood Archives, which provides an interesting backstory as to where the piano was made, when, and where and how it travelled after the factory to a Belgian dealer ( see photos ).
We are trying to find out more about who might have bought it in the 1920’s. It is back in England for a couple of years ago and is currently in our workshop. The term ‘they don’t make them like this anymore’ applies well here! -
